My Most Popular Reviews

Updated 9/4/20
From time to time, every blogger wants to check out what they've written about that's the most popular with their readership.  Since Google tracks how many times my individual posts have been viewed, it's interesting to go back and see what's been most popular among my classic film reviews.  Here's the top 10 most popular among them:

1)  Valley Of The Dragons (1961)   571 views
I think I owe my friend Dan Day Jr. some credit for the popularity of this review- he live tweeted it during an installment of Svengoolie airing this film.  Thanks to all of the audience who checked out my thoughts on this adaptation of a Jules Verne story which utilized plenty of footage from the film One Million B.C.

2)  Horrors Of The Black Museum (1959)  437 views
Michael Gough's unnerving horror film for producer Herman Cohen checks in next.  Gough's dialogue is always entertaining in this pretty gory horror film for 1959.

3)  The Vampire Bat (1933)  424 views
I'm not sure why a 1933 Poverty Row horror film has been so popular among my readers, but it's a decent movie, considering its budget, with a fine cast, including Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Melvyn Douglas, and Dwight Frye.

4)  The House In Marsh Road (1960)  358 views
I'm kind of surprised at the interest in this low-budget British film, but grateful for it nevertheless.  The film's story concerns a wife and her cad of a husband who move into a haunted cottage.

5)  Atom Age Vampire (1960)  260 views
A public domain staple, this engaging Italian horror film with a scientist who finds he must kill to maintain his patient's beauty is entertaining and enjoyable.

6)  House Of The Gorgon (2019)  220 views
The union of Hammer actors Caroline Munro, Martine Beswicke, Veronica Carlson, and Christopher Neame, under Joshua Kennedy's direction, made it this year's Rondo award-winning independent film.

7)  Theseus And The Minotaur (2017)  204 views
Joshua Kennedy's ode to the stop-motion cinema of Ray Harryhausen is a colorful adventure adapted from Greek mythology, with old-fashioned stop-motion animation by his collaborator Ryan Lengyel.

8)  Strange Confession (1945)  199 views
The film in the Inner Sanctum series that arguably contains Lon Chaney Jr.'s best performance, in a flashback tale of the travails of a struggling chemical engineer.  It was popular with my audience, beyond any of the other entries in the series.

9)  The Creation Of The Humanoids (1962)  183 views
This memorable if slow-moving sci-fi tale about a future where humans and androids find themselves at odds with each other was another favorite review.

10)  The Land Unknown (1957)  149 views
Universal-International's attempt at a dinosaur film features some varied creature effects and is a pretty fun film.
